Privacy and Confidentiality

Boort District Health is committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals whose information it holds. Victorian laws require BDH to protect personal, confidential and health information from improper disclosure. Two pieces of legislation that protect the personal and health information of patients and staff are the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic).

Charter of Human Rights

Boort District Health is required to protect the “Rights” of all residents, patients and staff. Human rights are those rights, which are inherent to every individual simply because he or she is human. The concept of human rights acknowledges that every single human being is entitled to enjoy his or her human rights without distinction as to race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

Occupational Health and Safety

Boort District Health cares for the health and well-being of its employees, contractors, volunteers, patients and visitors. The objective of our occupational health and safety committee is to prevent accidents, illness or injury. We believe that providing an environment that is safe and free from risk is essential to our long-term success.

Manual Handling

Our organisation is a “No Lift” organisation for all clinical staff. It is our policy that, the use of mechanical devises to aid the movement of patients, residents and other clients, equipment, goods etc. will be used in preference to manual handling. This is aligned with responsibilities of both employer and employee under the Occupational Health and Safety (Victoria) Act 2004.

Police Checks

A satisfactory Police Check is required to work & volunteer at Boort District Health. Employees and volunteers, on commencement of work, must complete a Police Check.

Staff Social Club

The Social Club is open to all employees, volunteers & board members of Boort District Health. The social club offers a variety of events on a regular basis, membership is $1 per week by payroll deduction and we offer other payment options are available for non-staff members.

Employee Assistance Program

Boort District Health values our staff, their health and well-being. We realise employees face stresses and worries of everyday life in and outside the workplace including balancing the requirements of work and family and that accessing well-being services can be of benefit.
