Boort District Health Urgent Care Centre provides around-the-clock urgent care services to people who need urgent medical attention, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The centre is staffed by Registered Nurses from the acute ward, with medical support provided by visiting and on-call Medical Officers, as well as the Victorian Virtual Emergency Doctor (VVED) service.
Patients visiting the Urgent Care Centre are assessed and triaged by nursing staff, ensuring that the most urgent cases are treated first.
For conditions requiring specialised investigation or care beyond what Boort District Health can provide, patients may need to be transferred by ambulance to a larger facility. In such cases, patients are responsible for the cost of ambulance transport. Additionally, patients receiving care at the Urgent Care Centre may incur charges from the visiting medical officer.
Boort District Health also offers care provided by Advanced Practice Nurses, such as Rural and Isolated Practice Registered Nurses (RIPRNs), who have an extended scope of practice. A limited nurse-led X-ray service is available for immediate diagnostic needs.
